‘Jurassic Park’ star Sam Neill dies at 78
by Gabs · MyNewsGh.comThe family of New Zealand actor Sam Neill has announced that he has died at the age of 78.
In a statement shared on his social media pages, the family said Neill died on Monday, July 13, 2026, in Sydney, Australia.
“Sam was surrounded by family and passed with the dignity that characterised his whole life,” the statement read.
The family added that his death was sudden and unexpected, noting that he had remained cancer-free following treatment for stage three lymphoma.
Neill was best known for his roles in Jurassic Park, Peaky Blinders, The Piano, The Tudors, Merlin, Omen III and Evil Angels. His acting career spanned more than five decades.
In 2023, he revealed he had been diagnosed with stage three lymphoma and later said clinical trials had left him cancer-free. Earlier this year, he spoke about returning to filmmaking after recovering.
Neill is also expected to appear posthumously in the upcoming films Godzilla x Kong: Supernova and The Last Resort, both scheduled for release in 2027.
