Woes of SHTS Headmaster Deepen; Resigns old students’ Chairman
by Stephen Zoure · MyNewsGh.comThe woes of the embattled Headmaster of Obuasi Senior High Technical School(SHTS) is deepening daily as he is reported to have also resigned as Chairman of the Old Students’ Association
Ghanaian development economist and National Democratic Congress (NDC) political figure PV Jantuah Dadson, who is a member of the group, is therefore calling for an investigation into Mr Zakaria Abdulai’s resignation as chairman amid sexual abuse allegations against him.
Mr PV Jantuah asked whether the headmaster’s decision to step down from the association’s leadership was connected to the allegations and demanded an explanation for the resignation.
He argued that the circumstances surrounding the decision should be examined to determine whether the resignation was linked to the allegations, rather than leaving questions unanswered.
“What informed him to resign as chairman of the old students’ association? Was it connected to his current alleged crime? What was the reason for his resignation?” Dadson questioned.
The NDC figure also criticised what he described as the negative influence of some religious people’s conduct on Ghana’s development, arguing that religious affiliation should not shield anyone from scrutiny of their actions.
“The reason this country is now where we are and not growing is because of some Christians and Muslims. Some of them, their characters are the reason,” he said.
Dadson further challenged the headmaster to publicly respond to the allegations, insisting that he should defend himself if the claims were unfounded.
“If the allegation of rape against him is wrong, he should come out and defend himself,” he stated.
