Homicide investigaton launched after death in Dunedin

A homicide investigation is underway after a person's death in Dunedin.

Detective Inspector Shona Low said emergency services were called to a Somerville Street property in Andersons Bay just before 6pm on Friday.

"Upon arrival a person was located deceased.

"One person was taken into custody at the scene."

Low said a scene guard was in place - and police do not believe there is any risk to the public.

Police are now working to find out the circumstances surrounding the death.

Cordons remain in place.
