Serious injured after crash involving van near Milford Sound

Several people have been injured after a serious crash that's blocking the road to Milford Sound.

The crash was reported on State Highway 94 near Deer Flat shortly before midday on Wednesday.

Police said the initial information was that a van had rolled, injuring several people and blocking the road in both directions.

The highway was expected to remain closed for some time and significant traffic had already built up, a spokesperson said.

Anyone planning to travel between Milford and Te Anau is encouraged to delay their travels.
