Charges laid after allegedly Nazi-style tattoos on show at Newcastle beach

A MAN reported for displaying tattoos allegedly depicting designated hate symbols at a Newcastle beach on Christmas Eve has been charged and arrested.

Officers attached to Newcastle City Police District and Operation Shelter investigated, and their inquiries led them to Urunga, just south of Coffs Harbour, where a 36-year-old man was arrested about 6.30pm yesterday (Saturday, December 27).

Coffs Harbour detectives made the arrest at the man's home and took him to Coffs Harbour Police Station where he was charged with knowingly display by public act Nazi symbol without excuse and cause prohibited Nazi symbol to be displayed in public place.

The man was granted strict conditional bail to appear at Newcastle Local Court on January 22, 2026.
