Brazen vandalism outside police station: vehicle windows allegedly smashed in
by Newsroom · Newcastle HeraldA teenage boy has been charged after the windows of a police vehicle were allegedly smashed outside a Lake Macquarie police station in the early hours.
About 3.50am Friday March 13, police were alerted to a police vehicle being repeatedly hit with a hammer outside Belmont police station.
Officers said four windows of the parked vehicle had allegedly been smashed in.
A 17-year-old boy was arrested a short time later on Herbert Street, near Belmont police station.
He was charged with breach of bail, destroying or damaging property, being armed with intent to commit an indictable offence, and hindering or resisting a police officer in the execution of duty.
He was refused bail and is due to appear before a children's court on Monday March 16.
