'Extensive damage' to house as party spirals out of control

by · Otago Daily Times Online News

Multiple fights and uninvited guests culminated in "extensive damage" to a Dunedin house where a 150-person youth party spiralled out of control.

Police received multiple reports about the house party in Howorth St, Fairfield, around 10.30pm on Saturday.

The party was "spilling out into the street with large disorder and multiple fights occurring", Acting Senior Sergeant Iain Notman, of Dunedin, said.

"The cause of the disorder was that numerous people had showed up uninvited."

There were about 150 youths, aged 16-17, at the address and out in the street.

All partygoers eventually moved on once police arrived.

However, there was "extensive damage" to the inside of the house.

No arrests were made at this stage, Acting Snr Sgt Notman said.
