HBO’s announcement was accompanied by the release of a captivating trailer, which maps Wizkid’s evolution from his humble beginnings in the Lagos neighbourhood of Surulere to his historic headline performance at the sold-out, 60,000-capacity Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on July 29, 2023.
Directed by Karam Gill and executive-produced by Bill Simmons, the documentary shadows the Grammy award-winning artiste as he prepares for his landmark concert in London.
However, the documentary ambitiously frames his personal story within a wider cultural narrative. It explores the global explosion of Afrobeats and delves into the deep-seated, long-running cultural exchange between Nigeria and the United Kingdom.
