On March 20, BTS shared insights into their new album during [STUDIO NOTES | ARIRANG], revealing how the group prepared for this release and reflecting on their long-awaited return after a 3-year, 9-month hiatus.

V expressed his excitement about the comeback, saying, “We’ve been waiting for this moment for so long. I’ve been thinking ‘finally’ over and over again.” RM, the group’s leader, reflected, “It’s been a long time since we released an album made entirely of new songs. It’s been almost four years, so we’re very happy and excited to return with 'ARIRANG.'

Jimin added, “After finishing our work in the dorm, we would gather at night over a drink and talk about our identity. We discussed questions like ‘What does it mean to be us?’ and ‘What does it mean to be BTS?’”

They expressed confidence that the album was carefully crafted, with the title 'ARIRANG' carrying a meaningful connection to traditional Korean heritage. The members described the album as full of love and emotion, noting that starting the project with the theme of 'ARIRANG' was a significant and fitting choice. “The album name may spark curiosity because it embodies various emotions,” they added.

RM addressed fans about his recent injury, stating, “As announced through our agency today, I injured my ankle while focusing on practice. Although it’s unfortunate, I will give my best on stage and perform the songs. Once my ankle heals, I hope to deliver an even better performance.”

BTS expressed excitement about returning with new music in 2026. j-hope shared, “I feel great because so many amazing songs came out,” while V mentioned, “I’ve been learning a lot by watching music videos of my friends recently.”

The members also reflected on their creative journey, noting that Jungkook was initially shy and reserved when starting the album work in the U.S., but gradually became more comfortable. They also expressed gratitude for Jin, saying, “Since his military discharge, Jin has been actively participating in variety shows and working hard to increase his recognition.”

BTS is set to officially celebrate their comeback with a large-scale free concert at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul on March 21 at 8 p.m. Police expect up to 260,000 attendees for the event. Ahead of the performance, the members repeatedly stressed the importance of safety for fans and staff.

SUGA said, “Safety comes first. With so many people gathering, please enjoy the concert safely from your spot.” J-Hope added, “We hope ARMYs at the venue follow directions from police and safety staff. We want everyone to enjoy the show and return home safely.”

RM described the group’s return after 3 years and 5 months as “a miracle,” expressing gratitude: “Just being together is miraculous and moving. This album is the result of many discussions and struggles between wanting to evolve and staying true to BTS. For seven adult men to pursue the same dream together feels like luck.”

He concluded, “We’ve come this far trusting you all for almost 14 years. We’ll swim forward, strong and beautiful, matching the love we’ve received.” Jin shared his joy at working closely with the members again, saying, “The past few months with the team have been so enjoyable and happy. I hope this lasts a long time.”

Meanwhile, BTS will release a documentary film on Netflix titled 'BTS: The Return' on March 27, which chronicles the intense preparation process for 'ARIRANG' and behind-the-scenes stories from the Gwanghwamun project.
