Sanha Says He’s “Confident in Showing a New Side” With Solo Mini-Album ‘NO REASON’

ASTRO's Sanha shared thoughts on his new album in a Q&A released alongside the launch of his third solo mini album, 'NO REASON,' on May 20.

The artist personally introduced the new release ahead of his solo comeback. Through his agency Fantagio, Sanha revealed a detailed interview before dropping his third solo mini-album 'NO REASON.'

'NO REASON' is an album that embraces and expresses Sanha’s true self as he is. In addition to including his self-composed track "If We" and "+1," which he participated in writing, he actively took part in the overall production process. He said, “I felt that I had grown one step further both musically and as a person. I really wanted to show the public my honest self.”

The title track, "IDK ME," starts with the cool admission, “I don’t know me,” and captures a more independent and honest side of Yoon San Ha. He described it as “a cool song with a slightly cheeky charm that isn’t swayed by other people’s standards or opinions,” while highlighting its key appeal.

Sanha’s third solo mini-album 'NO REASON' became available on online music platforms starting at 6 PM on May 20. Ahead of the release, he also held a countdown live broadcast through his official YouTube channel at 5 PM.

Below is Yoon San Ha’s full Q&A about 'NO REASON.'

Q: It’s been about 10 months since your previous release, 'CHAMELEON.' How do you feel about your comeback?

I’m both excited and nervous since it’s my first comeback in 10 months. I’m also thrilled and happy because I’m confident I can show a new side of myself to everyone who has been waiting. I really want to thank all the people who waited for my comeback.

Q: How would you introduce the title track “IDK ME”? In what kind of situation would you recommend listening to it?

“IDK ME” started from the abbreviation of “I don’t know.” It’s a song with a cool yet slightly cheeky charm that says, “This side of me is still me too,” without being shaken by other people’s standards or opinions. I think it’s a great song to confidently listen to when you don’t want to feel small because of someone else’s gaze.

Q: This is your third solo album. In what ways do you think you’ve grown compared to your previous albums, and what new side of yourself do you want to show?

I think I’ve grown the most vocally. While preparing songs in new genres, I tried many different things, and with each recording, I felt myself gradually becoming more comfortable with new vocal techniques and styles of expression. While working on this album, I also felt that I had grown as a person. Usually, if something bothered me, I tended to keep it to myself and move on, but this time I learned a lot about how to express my opinions. As I prepared NO REASON, I also realized areas where I was lacking, and it made me want to improve even more for the next album.

Q: Why did you choose the title 'NO REASON' for the album?

While preparing this album, I really wanted to show the public my honest self exactly as I am. Just like the album title 'NO REASON,' this album contains “Yoon San Ha” himself, so I hope people look forward to it.

Q: Is there a specific message or keyword you wanted to convey with this album?

For this album, I especially didn’t want to confine myself to the image or keywords that the public associates with me. I still feel like I’m in the process of learning about myself and discovering who I am. Through this album, I wanted to convey the message, “Yoon San Ha can do this too.”

Q: We heard you were heavily involved in the songwriting, composition, and overall production of the album. Was there anything you paid special attention to?

I tried hard to break away from the musical stereotypes that I had unconsciously placed on myself. That’s why I paid particular attention to the visual aspects, such as the jacket shoot and music video filming. Even when certain poses or facial expressions felt unfamiliar, I tried to stop worrying about how others would see me and approached the shoots with the mindset of doing everything without regrets.

Q: What was the most memorable episode while preparing this album?

The process of how “IDK ME” was created stands out the most. When I first met the composers over a meal, they asked me, “What kind of stage do you want to perform on, and what kind of person do you think you are?” I answered, “I don’t really know myself either.” It still feels vivid and fascinating to me that the concept and song were born from that one sentence.

Q: Lastly, could you say a few words to the fans who waited for your comeback?

During the past 10 months preparing this album, I feel that I’ve grown a lot both musically and as Yoon San Ha the person. Because of that, I think I’ll be able to show a changed side of myself and new charms. Thank you so much to AROHA for waiting, and please give lots of love to 'NO REASON.'
