UNCORE denies accusations that Jang Yeojun of Close Your Eyes 'smoked an e-cigarette' during a Weverse Live

UNCORE, the management label behind the project group Close Your Eyes, has stepped up with an official statement addressing recent rumors and accusations surrounding member Jang Yeojun.

Approximately a week ago, Jang Yeojun generated a buzz among K-netizens through his cryptic Weverse DM messages, seemingly suggesting that he was caught up in a case of "preferential treatment" in the workplace.

While the issue went unaddressed by UNCORE for about a week, Jang Yeojun became the center of a buzz-worthy situation yet again after his recent Weverse Live. One K-netizen in particular accused the idol of "smoking an e-cigarette" during a voice-only live, based on sounds captured through the live, as heard below.

Soon afterward, UNCORE formally issued an official statement to deny the ongoing accusations and speculations. The agency said on March 28 KST,

"Hello, this is UNCORE. We have recently confirmed cases of false information about our agency artist being spread via online communities and social media platforms.
In particular, we would like to stress that accusations pertaining to an artist's recent live broadcast are untrue. The live broadcast in question was conducted with a representative of the agency present on the scene, and the sounds captured in the broadcast and accused as problematic occurred in the agency's practice room.  Additionally, we would like to clarify our position regarding our artist's remarks delivered via a private messaging platform last week.
These remarks were not intended to target any specific individual or situation; they were comments made while the artist attempted to hear out fans' personal concerns but were interpreted in a different way. Despite the fact, the agency understands that the incident may have caused confusion and concern among fans.
In light of the above, we intend on notifying our artists of internal guidelines and managing their activities persistently so that artists may communicate with fans thoughtfully and respectfully.  We would also like to remind you that we intend on pursuing strong legal action against any instances which involve the defamation of our artists, slander and mockery, the spread of false and malicious rumors, and/or unconfirmed speculation.
Therefore, we ask that you please refrain from spreading any unconfirmed information online and on social media. Moving forward, we will do our best to protect our agency's artists.
Thank you."
