Supply chain report says iPhone SE 4 will launch in March 2025
by William Gallagher · AppleInsiderAnalysts from Barclays bank claim to have confirmed that the iPhone SE 4 will in March 2025 as previously expected.
The prediction of a March date is far from new. However, this time Barclays is claiming that it has the date from the supply chain. The analysts even use the word "confirmed".
There does not, though, appear to be any specific basis for the claim other than that others have previously reported the same date.
Barclays does also expect that the iPhone SE 4 will launch with an Apple-made modem. The current iPhone SE, and all iPhone models, use a Qualcomm 5G modem and Apple has been working to replace that with its own design.
Again, though, this detail has been reported by other sources since at least Apple-made modem">September 2024.
It's thought that Apple will try out its own 5G modem in the iPhone SE 4 because it may not yet support the faster mmWave version of 5G. This is needed for at least the Pro models of the iPhone, although at present only US iPhones support it.
When it launches, the iPhone SE 4 is expected to be the first in its range to replace Touch ID with Face ID. It's also believed that the phone's design will be based on that of the iPhone 14.

The performance of the Apple made cellular modem will be interesting to see! Not sure if I need to replace my iP12 next year, but the rumored thinner iPhone 17 model will be tempting, and it is rumored to have the Apple cell modem.
