Get ready for an emotional rollercoaster as acclaimed filmmakers Nilesh Maniyar and Shonali Bose bring their latest documentary, A Fly on the Wall, to the prestigious 29th Busan International Film Festival. This marks their third collaboration to be showcased at Busan, following the success of The Sky is Pink and Margarita with a Straw.

A Fly on the Wall is set to compete in the Wide Angle - Documentary Competition section, which celebrates unique and inspiring voices in cinematic documentary filmmaking from around the globe.

In this powerful and heartfelt film, Maniyar and Bose explore the profound themes of friendship and the right to dignity in death. The story follows their friend Chika Kapadia, who, just a week before her appointment for physician-assisted suicide, becomes the subject of their documentary. Encouraged by Nilesh, Shonali turns the camera on herself, weaving a deeply personal narrative alongside editor Tushar Ghogale. Set against the stunning backdrop of Switzerland, a location familiar to many iconic Bollywood films, the documentary captures the essence of life, death, and enduring friendship.

Director Nilesh Maniyar shared his thoughts on the film’s selection at Busan: “Chika was a friend who gave more than he took. The impression he left on me in his last days was life-altering. It felt only right to tell his story through the lens of the 25-year friendship he shared with Shonali. With the premiere at Busan, we hope to further the conversation about the right to dignity in death, as in life.”

Filmmaker Shonali Bose added, “Fulfilling Chika’s dying wish and shooting this film has been the hardest challenge of my filmmaking career. This film is my love letter to Chika and to life. I am honoured to premiere it at Busan, a festival that values such deeply personal stories.”

A Fly On the Wall is set to premiere at the 29th Busan International Film Festival, which will take place from October 4 to October 13, 2024. Don't miss this poignant and thought-provoking documentary that promises to leave a lasting impact. For more entertainment news, stay tuned to BollywoodLife.
