Meg Stalter Walked the Emmys Carpet as a Life-Size Golden Emmy Statue, Wings and Globe Included

Meg Stalter arrived at the Emmys carpet not just dressed for the occasion, but as the occasion itself — turning up as a life-size golden Emmy statue, complete with wings and the trophy’s signature globe.
The gold went all the way down: matching gold skin, a set of wings, and the Emmy statue’s globe hoisted over her head as she posed beside “Hacks” co-creator and co-star Paul W. Downs in a plain tux.
It’s Stalter’s first Emmy nomination, for outstanding supporting actress in a comedy. Downs is up for outstanding supporting actor in the same category, plus writing and producing nods with Lucia Aniello and Jen Statsky. On the show, the two play Kayla and Jimmy.
Stalter told the carpet she was just back in town after playing the lead in “Oh, Mary!” on Broadway.

She and Downs make a habit of these looks. In January they turned up at the Critics Choice Awards in Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner‘s bright orange “Marty Supreme” premiere outfits. Stalter explained the pattern to The New Yorker: “Paul and I had so much fun together doing that that we were just, like, ‘Why wouldn’t we want to do something weird every time?'”
“Hacks” wrapped its fifth and final season and heads into the ceremony with 24 nominations. Jean Smart won Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series.
