Esther McGregor, 24, is reportedly taking on Violet Sorrengail in Prime Video’s Fourth Wing, with Emilio Sakraya, 30, cast as Xaden Riorson. The Oct. 15 casting report puts the 2 actors at the center of the adaptation of Rebecca Yarros’s romantasy novels.

McGregor’s credits include We Were Liars, Babygirl and The Room Next Door. She’s the daughter of Ewan McGregor and production designer Eve Mavrakis, and her parents made her wait before pursuing screen work. She said they “never let me do anything onscreen until I was old enough to executively make the decision,” explaining that her father “understands the perils of the dark side of being a young actress.”

She’s also addressed the “nepo baby” label, saying she won’t let it “diminish the f—ing hard work that I’ve put into this.”

Born in Berlin, Sakraya has a Serbian father and a Moroccan-German mother who’s an actress. His credits include playing JC in Warrior Nun, along with roles in Those About to Die and One Piece.

He’s been described as a leading fan choice for Xaden, a character whose casting Yarros addressed in 2024. She said her influence over casting was limited, but added: “They know how staunch I am against whitewashing Xaden.”

Violet’s physical vulnerability is another part of the character Yarros has discussed. Her illness isn’t named in the book. Yarros, who said she and her 4 sons have hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos, said she relates to “how much pain Violet endures daily, and how easily her joints slip.”

Prime Video ordered the series in May 2026. Michael B. Jordan’s Outlier Society is producing, Meredith Averill is the showrunner, and Lisa Joy will direct the pilot. The lead casting remains reported; filming and premiere dates haven’t been announced.
