Tinubu Reacts As Helicopter Crash Kills Ghana Ministers, 6 Others, “Our Prayers Are with You”

State House, Abuja - President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Wednesday, August 6, extended his deepest condolences to President John Mahama, the government and people of Ghana following the helicopter crash that claimed the lives of Defence Minister Edward Omane Boamah, Environment Minister Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, and six others.

In a statement on Wednesday, presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu assured President Mahama and all Ghanaians that the thoughts and prayers of the government and people of Nigeria are with them during this time of profound national loss.

The president urged the Ghanaian nation and the bereaved families and friends to find comfort in the knowledge that their loved ones died in the line of patriotic service to the country.

He prayed for the peaceful repose of the souls of the departed and strength for those left behind.

Ghana President Mahama gives order

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that the Government of Ghana has directed that all national flags be flown at half-mast in honour of key government officials who died in a tragic military helicopter crash.

The fatal incident occurred on Wednesday, August 6, in Adansi Akrofuom district of the Ashanti region while two ministers, along with six others, were en route to Obuasi for official duties.

Announcing the directive, chief of staff Julius Debrah, expressed the government’s deep sorrow regarding the loss of the two senior public officials and others onboard the helicopter.

President Bola Tinubu, on Thursday, March 27, received his Ghanaian counterpart, John Mahama, at his official residence in the State House, Abuja.

Dada Olusegun revealed this in a statement shared on his X page on Thursday, accompanied by photos of the two leaders.

The presidential aide tweeted:

"President Bola Ahmed Tinubu receives in audience the President of Ghana, His Excellency John Mahama at the State House."
