Former President Muhammadu Buhari has finally been laid to rest at his country home in Daura, Katsina state, on Tuesday, July 15. The immediate past president reportedly died in a London hospital on Sunday, July 13.

His remains were repatriated to Nigeria on Tuesday and were given a state burial, where President Bola Tinubu led the federal government delegation at the funeral programme in Katsina on the same day.

Shettima visits Buhari's family in London

Vice President Kashim Shettima had earlier visited the family of the late former president in London and coordinated the paperwork for the repatriation to Nigeria. Shettima had visited the Buhari family on the directive of President Bola Tinubu.

President Tinubu earlier announced that he will personally receive the remains of the former President Muhammadu Buhari, who died on Sunday, July 13, at a London hospital, in Katsina on Tuesday, July 15.

The body of Buhari, who was the Nigerian president between 2015 and 2023, is expected to arrive in Katsina by 12 pm on Tuesday. Mohammed Idris, the Minister for Information and National Orientation, disclosed the development in a statement on Monday, July 14.

How Aisha Buhari mourned her husband

Legit.ng earlier reported that former President Muhammadu Buhari's wife, Aisha, has been seen weeping profusely following the death of her husband on Sunday, July 13.

The former first lady was captured in a video during the presidential condolence visits to the Buhari's family in London on Monday, July 14.

Vice President Kashim Shettima, Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, and Minister of Foreign Affairs Yusuf Tugar led the presidential visit to deliver President Bola Tinubu's message.
