Nigeria, which finished as Group C winners, earned a favourable Round of 16 draw against the team which finished third in Group F, Mozambique.

Mozambique reached the knockout stage with a 3-2 win over the Panthers of Gabon, sandwiched between losses to defending champion Cote d'Ivoire and Cameroon.

As confirmed by CAF, the match is scheduled to be played on Monday, January 5, 2026, at 8 pm Nigerian time at Complexe Sportif de Fes, the same stadium where Nigeria played all their group matches.

Wilfred Ndidi sends message to Nigerians

The Super Eagles had a flawless group stage campaign and the last time they won all three matches in the first round in 2021, under the tutelage of Austin Eguavoen, they were eliminated in the Round of 16.

Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi was about this in the mixed zone after Nigeria defeated the Cranes of Uganda and he explained that the team's focus is on a game-by-game basis.

“We're not thinking of what happened in 2021. It's gone. We're not thinking about this game now,” he told OJB Sports. “We're thinking about the next game, which is more important? So, game after game game after game game after game.”

Chelle relishes knockout stage pressure

Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle admits that the knockout stage comes with a lot of pressure, but he is looking forward to it.
