Warner Bros. Pictures has officially released the first full-length trailer for Alejandro Iñárritu‘s highly anticipated absurdist comedy, Digger. The trailer showcases superstar Tom Cruise in an unrecognizable role as an eccentric, aging oil tycoon facing down an impending environmental disaster of his own making.
In Digger, Cruise portrays Digger Rockwell, “the most powerful man in the world,” who is forced to navigate a high-stakes crisis when his company’s operations accidentally trigger a massive glacier shift in Greenland. Sporting a thick Southern drawl, a potbelly, and a thinning grey combover, the actor’s intense physical transformation draws immediate comparisons to his iconic, unhinged turn in 2008’s Tropic Thunder. Under the direction of the two-time Academy Award-winning filmmaker, the narrative follows Rockwell as he embarks on a frantic, self-absorbed mission to establish himself as humanity’s ultimate savior before his own eco-disaster triggers a global conflict.
The star-studded ensemble cast features Sandra Hüller, John Goodman, Riz Ahmed, Jesse Plemons, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Sophie Wilde. Shot in high-definition analog VistaVision, the project seamlessly balances high-concept tension with pitch-black satirical comedy.
Digger is officially scheduled to release in theaters and IMAX across North America on October 2, 2026.
