With the first Monday of May is now less than seven months away, Met Gala season gradually nears the horizon. As we wait in anticipation for fashion’s favorite day of the year, the Metropolitan Museum of Art has revealed this year’s Gala’s official exhibition and theme as well as its star-studded lineup of co-chairs, which includes Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams, and Anna Wintour – as well as first-time attendee Lebron James as an honorary co-chair.

The Costume Institute will present an exhibition entitled “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” which draws inspiration from Monica L. Miller’s 2009 text Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity. The exhibition is set to feature garments, paintings and photographs that, per Vogue, “explore the indelible style of Black men in the context of dandyism,” chronicling the changes from the 18th century all the way up through the present day.

2025’s Met Gala will mark Domingo’s second Met Gala, Pharrell’s sixth Met Gala (and second time as a co-chair, previously serving the role back in 2017 for “Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between”), and just another Met for regular attendees Rocky and Hamilton. Wintour has chaired the Met Gala since 1995.

“Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” will be on view May 6 through October 26, 2025. The Gala’s dress code is slated to be announced in early 2025.
