Ariana Grande and Ben Stiller Face Off in Chaotic New ‘Focker In-Law’ Trailer
· Rolling StoneAriana Grande is meeting the Fockers in the first trailer for Focker In-Law.
The upcoming Meet the Parents sequel stars Ariana Grande as Olivia Jones, as sees Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro reprise their roles as Greg Focker and Jack Byrnes, respectively. Owen Wilson, Blythe Danner, and Teri Polo also return for the fourth installment of the franchise, with additional newcomers Beanie Feldstein and Skyler Gisondo.
In traditional Focker fashion, the first trailer opens with Grande’s Jones, a trained FBI hostage negotiator and the fiancée of Greg’s son (Gisondo), strapped to a lie detector test. After expertly answering a few questions, Jack declares, “You clearly know your stuff.” His immediate embracing of Jones into the family clearly miffs Greg, who attempts to undermine his son’s fiancée in various half-baked ways. As chaos ensues, we see Stiller choke on steak at the dinner table (resulting in the most unfortunate of consequences), get attacked by a testy German Shepherd, and race Grande on bikes while sporting matching pink shirts.
Back in November, Stiller stopped by The Tonight Show and raved about his co-star. “It’s crazy how talented [Ariana Grande] is,” Stiller told host Jimmy Fallon. “She’s so sweet. I didn’t know her before. Actually, I had met her before because she did a cameo in Zoolander 2 10 years ago. She was in an orgy scene we had. But I haven’t seen her since the orgy. She’s so great with comedy. She’s amazing in Wicked and she’s such a good singer, obviously, too.”
