Xiaomi 17T series Malaysia release - Dimensity 8500 chipset, 5x optical zoom telephoto camera, 6500mAh battery, and more from RM 2,399

As announced last week, the Xiaomi 17T series phones officially launched today. There are two models available this time, the Xiaomi 17T and Xiaomi 17T Pro, both intended for consumers who want a flagship phone capable of taking good photos and delivering solid overall performance. With that said, let's take a look at what Xiaomi Malaysia is offering.

Solid performance, good displays

Starting with the Xiaomi 17T, this phone sports a MediaTek Dimensity 8500-Ultra SoC, 12GB of RAM, and up to 512GB of storage. On the other hand, the Xiaomi 17T Pro sports the flagship-class MediaTek Dimensity 9500 SoC, which promises better performance in AI-generation tasks, gaming, and photography. It also has 12GB of RAM, but has a variant with 1TB of storage if you need more space.

For display, the Xiaomi 17T uses a 6.59-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Its Pro counterpart has a larger 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate and up to 3500 nits of peak brightness. Moreover, both displays feature advanced eye-care technologies, making the Xiaomi 17T series the first to receive the TÜV Rheinland quadruple eye-care certification.

Camera excellence

On the camera side, the Xiaomi 17T and Xiaomi 17T Pro both come with a 50MP main camera. In particular, the Xiaomi 17T Prouses a large 1/1.31-inch sensor, while the Xiaomi 17T packs a 1/1.55-inch sensor. Combined with the Leica UltraPure optical design and 1G+6P hybrid Leica Summilux lens structure, both phones are capable of capturing photos with fine detail and exceptional clarity.

They also have a 50MP telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom, 10x lossless zoom, and up to 120x AI Ultra Zoom. The third camera is a modest 12MP ultra-wide camera, while the front camera uses a 32MP sensor. Additionally, the Xiaomi 17T series Leica-engineered features like Leica Live Moment and Leica Live Portrait are similar to those of previous Xiaomi flagship phones.

Lasting battery

Last but not least, the Xiaomi 17T series smartphones both deliver excellent battery life. The Xiaomi 17T is equipped with a 6500mAh battery and supports 67W HyperCharge, while the Xiaomi 17T Pro has a larger 7000mAh battery and supports 100W HyperCharge. Both models have notably higher battery capacities than their predecessors, so you can expect them to last much longer.
