Fetty Wap Announces New Album ‘Zavier,’ Releases Trailer

by · Genius

On March 27, Fetty Wap will release Zavier, his fourth studio album and first since he was released from federal prison earlier this year. The New Jersey rapper was sentenced to six years behind bars in 2023 for drug trafficking, and now that he’s out, he‘s taking stock of who he is and where his life stands.

“When you lose the money, everybody thinks that’s the worst part,” Fetty—born Willie Junior Maxwell II—says in the trailer. But as he explains, it was even harder being abandoned by people who only loved him for what he could provide for them.

“When they take everything away, what you got left is a person your mama named you,” he says. “You can call me Fetty, but the people who know me call me Zavier.”

Known for his highly melodic sing-rap flow, Fetty reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 with 2014’s “Trap Queen,” and in the year that followed, he proved more than a one-hit wonder. Fetty landed his next five singles in the Top 10 of the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, and two of those—“679” and “My Way”—made the Top 10 of the Hot 100.

“I’m just happy & grateful to be back, & thankful that my fans didn’t forget about me,” Fetty said in a press release. “I’m so thankful to my family, fans and team for holding me down. This new music is a reflection of a new chapter in my life. I just want to bring back good energy & good vibes. I love y’all.”
