After an 11-year association with SRH, which included a pivotal role in their 2016 IPL title victory, Bhuvneshwar expressed gratitude towards the franchise and its fans for their unwavering support throughout his tenure.
The move to RCB marked a significant milestone for the seasoned bowler, who secured a 156% salary increase from his previous contract. Bhuvneshwar has long been regarded as one of the most effective bowlers in the powerplay, consistently delivering impactful performances. His IPL career, which began in 2011, has seen him take an impressive 181 wickets in 176 matches. Despite being retained by SRH for Rs 4.2 crore during the IPL 2022 auction, his value skyrocketed in 2025 as multiple franchises vied for his services.

The auction drama unfolded on Day 2 when Mumbai Indians (MI) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) initiated a bidding war for the experienced pacer. Starting at his base price of Rs 2 crore, the offers quickly escalated, much to the excitement of fans. The price breached the Rs 10 crore mark before MI bowed out at Rs 10.25 crore. Just when LSG seemed poised to secure Bhuvneshwar for Rs 10.5 crore, RCB entered the race with a decisive bid of Rs 10.75 crore, ultimately clinching the deal.
Bhuvneshwar's move to RCB adds significant depth to their pace attack, where he will join forces with the likes of Josh Hazlewood. During the IPL 2024 season, Bhuvneshwar showcased his class with 11 wickets in 16 matches, including a memorable last-ball victory against Rajasthan Royals.
