Nayyi Navelli box office Day 2: Yami Gautam film rises 23% despite fewer shows

Actor Yami Gautam's Nayyi Navelli recorded a 23.1 per cent rise in India nett collections on Saturday. The increase came despite fewer shows, lifting its worldwide gross to Rs 10.13 crore.

Actor Yami Gautam’s comedy-horror drama Nayyi Navelli witnessed a jump in box office collections on its second day in theatres. The film recorded a stronger showing on Saturday, despite running fewer shows than it did on its opening day. The improvement in collections and occupancy offered a boost to the film’s early theatrical run.

According to trade website Sacnilk, Nayyi Navelli earned Rs 4 crore in India nett collections on Saturday, a 23.1 per cent increase from its opening-day earnings of Rs 3.25 crore. Its two-day India nett collection now stands at Rs 7.25 crore, while the domestic gross has reached Rs 8.63 crore. With Rs 1.50 crore coming from overseas markets, the film’s worldwide gross collection has climbed to Rs 10.13 crore.

The film recorded 5,945 shows on Saturday, compared with 6,281 on Friday. Its overall occupancy also improved from 11 per cent on opening day to 14 per cent on Day 2. The film registered 179,695 footfalls on Saturday, taking its cumulative footfall count to 334,706 over the first two days.

The Hindi 2D version recorded an overall occupancy of 21.99 per cent on Saturday. Morning shows registered 7.77 per cent occupancy, while afternoon and evening screenings recorded 24.08 per cent and 24.46 per cent, respectively. Night shows saw the highest occupancy at 27.15 per cent.

Directed by Balaji Mohan, Nayyi Navelli, marks his Bollywood directorial debut. Written by Himanshu Sharma and Divy Nidhi Sharma, the Hindi film arrived in theatres on October 16.

Set in Meerut, the story follows Mohini, played by Yami Gautam, whose arrival as a new bride turns a chaotic household upside down. Her brother-in-law, however, begins to suspect that there may be a supernatural explanation for her seemingly extraordinary presence. Blending domestic comedy, horror and regional mythology, the film also draws on a Ram-Ravan dynamic.

The supporting cast includes Addinath M. Kothare, Mita Vashisht, Sunita Rajwar, Sonal Jha and Sushmita Mukherjee.

Nayyi Navelli released in theatres on October 16.
