Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday hit back at the FIR registered against him and other MPs over the Opposition’s protest against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and the EC over allegations of “vote chori” and the ongoing electoral roll revision, saying he was ready to face more cases.
“45 FIRs have been registered against me; I want 100 FIRs to be registered against me. Every FIR is like a medal for me,” Rahul Gandhi said in Delhi.
OPPOSITION STEPS UP PROTESTS
The latest development comes as Opposition parties intensify their protests for Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar resignation and the allegations of “vote chori”.
The Opposition’s latest round of protests follows a day after Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and several INDIA bloc leaders were detained following an hours-long sit-in near the Election Commission office in New Delhi.
The Opposition had attempted to march from Parliament towards the Election Commission headquarters, demanding a meeting with the poll panel and raising allegations concerning electoral rolls.
AAP TO JOIN PROTEST OUTSIDE DELHI CEO OFFICE
On Wednesday, the Aam Aadmi Party will join the Congress, Left parties and other Delhi-based Opposition groups in a protest outside the Delhi CEO’s office at Kashmere Gate at 1 pm.
AAP Delhi chief Saurabh Bhardwaj has urged party workers and supporters to participate in the protest in large numbers.
