A Delhi Police head constable and his wife were found dead inside their locked Narela flat on Saturday. Investigators are examining the sequence of events and all possible circumstances behind the deaths.

A Delhi Police head constable and his wife were found dead inside their flat in Delhi's Narela area on Saturday, with police saying the sequence of events and circumstances leading to the deaths are being investigated.

The victims were identified as Head Constable Monu, around 40, who was posted in the North District, and his wife Meenu, 35. Police said legal proceedings are underway and further investigation is being carried out to establish the exact cause and circumstances of the deaths.

According to police, a PCR call was received at around 1 pm about a flat in the Narela area that was locked from inside. Police reached the spot and, with the help of the Fire Department, entered the flat. The bodies of Monu and Meenu were found in the same room inside the flat.

Preliminary information showed that the couple's two children were away from home at the time of the incident. They later returned and found the flat locked from inside. After their knocks went unanswered, neighbours gathered at the spot, sources said.

According to the preliminary account, neighbours looked through a window and saw the woman lying dead, while Monu was found hanging. Police, however, did not confirm the sequence of events or the circumstances in which the couple died.

Police said the Forensic Science Laboratory team, Crime Team and senior officers visited the spot and examined the premises. The bodies have been shifted to Raja Harish Chandra Hospital for post-mortem examination. Sources said police are looking into all possible circumstances surrounding the deaths, including whether any dispute preceded the incident, as the investigation continues.
