The new trailer for Dune: Part Three has been unveiled, offering a fuller look at the final film in Denis Villeneuve's trilogy. Directed by Denis Villeneuve, featuring actor Timothee Chalamet, the footage points to a darker chapter in Paul Atreides' story, while also giving more space to Zendaya, Jason Momoa and the sandworms.
The film sees Chalamet return as Paul, continuing the story after his rise to power at the end of Part Two. Inspired by Frank Herbert's Dune Messiah, the story is set 17 years after the previous film and examines the consequences of Paul's rule as emperor, with his vision of the future no longer clear.
In the trailer, Paul admits that his ability to see ahead has weakened since taking control of the galaxy. “The future has a way of talking to me,” Paul says. “I can't see what's ahead.” He also faces a new adversary in actor Robert Pattinson's Scytale, a shapeshifter who wants to remove him from power. “We plan to strike the core of imperial power,” Scytale says, making clear that he is pushing for “regime change”.
The footage also highlights actor Zendaya as Fremen warrior Chani, whose relationship with Paul has been complicated by his marriage to Princess Irulan, played by actor Florence Pugh. Chani now wants a child. The trailer also features more of Duncan Idaho, the warrior who died defending Paul and his mother, played by actor Rebecca Ferguson, and who has been brought back as a ghola. Scytale sends Duncan to Paul as a “gift”, and one sequence shows an exchange between the ghola and Paul.
Among the returning cast are Rebecca Ferguson, actor Javier Bardem and Pugh, whose role as Princess Irulan is expanded in the new film. Actor Anya Taylor-Joy also returns as Alia Atreides, who becomes a devoted follower of her brother. New cast additions include Pattinson and actor Isaach de Bankole as Paul's former Fedaykin death commando.
Dune: Part Three is set for a theatrical release on December 18, 2026.
