A building collapse in Northeast Delhi’s Seemapuri area on Wednesday left three people dead, including a child, while a total of 11 people have so far been rescued from the debris. The front portion of a four-storey structure gave way, triggering a major rescue and relief operation.
Of those rescued, eight injured people have been shifted to Rajiv Gandhi Super Speciality Hospital in Tahirpur for further medical treatment.

Rescue and relief operations are continuing at the site, with teams searching the debris and assessing whether anyone else remains trapped.
According to the Delhi Fire Service (DFS), it received a call about the collapse at around 3:15 pm. Four fire department vehicles were immediately rushed to the spot in Seemapuri, where rescue operations were launched.
The DFS further said the front portion of the building had collapsed. Teams were engaged in search and rescue efforts to ascertain whether anyone was trapped inside the damaged structure.
Further details regarding casualties or injuries were not immediately available.
TRAFFIC AFFECTED AROUND SEEMAPURI
The Delhi Traffic Police issued a traffic alert following the building collapse, saying traffic movement had been affected around Seemapuri Gol Chakkar, DLF Bhopura and adjoining roads.
The traffic police said rescue teams were working at the site and urged commuters to avoid the area if possible. It also appealed to people not to stop, park or gather near the site, and to follow directions issued by traffic personnel.
The traffic police stressed that keeping lanes clear would allow ambulances and rescue vehicles to reach the site faster.
7 KILLED IN SATYA NIKETAN INCIDENT
The latest incident comes less than a month after a deadly building collapse in Delhi’s Satya Niketan area, where a five-storey paying guest accommodation collapsed on September 6, killing seven people and injuring five others.
The building, which housed a boys’ PG, came down while repair work was underway. Rescue teams eventually pulled 12 people from the rubble, seven of whom died.
The Satya Niketan collapse had raised serious concerns over building safety, unauthorised construction and structural checks in densely populated parts of the capital.
Reports said that the collapsed structure had no sanctioned plan, an unauthorised basement and no Fire NOC, while its fifth floor was also not permitted under building rules.
The September 6 tragedy also prompted scrutiny of safety standards in Delhi’s crowded residential and student-housing areas.
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi subsequently initiated action against an adjoining building at Satya Niketan after it was declared unsafe, while authorities also moved towards wider inspections of potentially dangerous properties.
Against this backdrop, the Seemapuri collapse has once again brought attention to the vulnerability of multi-storey structures in the national capital.
As emergency teams continue their operation at the site, officials are expected to ascertain the extent of the damage and determine whether anyone remains trapped beneath the debris.
The cause of the Seemapuri collapse and the condition of the remaining portion of the building are yet to be established.
