Noida Police have arrested a 26-year-old man accused of attacking women with scissors on deserted roads in Sector-58. Investigators say the arrest followed complaints by two women and has led to a wider probe into similar attacks.

Noida Police arrested a man accused of attacking women with scissors on deserted roads in the Sector-58 area and recovered the scooter and scissors allegedly used in the incidents.

According to police, two women filed a complaint at Sector-58 police station on Friday, alleging that a scooter-borne man attacked them from behind with a sharp object while they were returning home on the Sector-55 road. Both women suffered injuries below the waist in the attack.

After receiving the complaint, police registered a case, sent the women for medical examination and launched a search operation to trace the accused.

During the investigation, police used local intelligence inputs and electronic surveillance to track down the suspect. Police arrested 26-year-old Ankit Verma from the Sector-55/56 road area on Saturday. He is a resident of Pragati Vihar in Ghaziabad.

Police said the accused has been working as an executive at a private company in Sector-62 since 2020.

During questioning, police found that the accused used to roam around on his scooter on deserted roads and target women and girls who were alone, attacking them from behind with scissors.

Police have now arrested the accused and started further investigation into the case.
