Karuppu box office Day 5: Suriya film stays strong, earns Rs 161 crore globally

Suriya and Trisha Krishnan's Karuppu collected Rs 12.75 crore nett in India on Day 5. The film held steady through the opening week, taking its five-day India nett to Rs 95.05 crore.

Karuppu, starring Suriya and Trisha Krishnan, continued its strong run at the box office on Day 5, collecting an estimated Rs 12.75 crore nett in India on Tuesday, Day 5 according to trade tracker Sacnilk. The film recorded a 10.8 per cent drop from its Monday collection of Rs 14.30 crore nett.

Despite the slight decline, the fantasy action drama has maintained steady momentum since its release and has quickly emerged as one of the biggest commercial successes of the year. The film has seen a strong response not only in Tamil Nadu, but also across several Indian markets and overseas territories.

India box office performance

Backed by packed shows, positive word of mouth and sustained audience interest, Karuppu has held steady through the crucial opening week. Its theatrical run has also translated into some of the best box office figures of Suriya’s career so far.

The film’s Day 5 earnings took its total India nett collection to Rs 95.05 crore, while its India gross rose to Rs 110.04 crore. On Tuesday, the film was shown in 6,093 screenings across the country. It opened with Rs 15.50 crore nett on Friday, rose to Rs 24.15 crore on Saturday, peaked at Rs 28.35 crore on Sunday, and then collected Rs 14.30 crore on Monday and Rs 12.75 crore on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, the Tamil version earned Rs 10.55 crore nett from 4,362 shows, with an occupancy of 42 per cent. The Telugu version added Rs 2.20 crore nett from 1,731 shows, recording 24 per cent occupancy. In the Tamil version, occupancy rose through the day, moving from 25.38 per cent in the morning to 56.69 per cent for the night shows.
