Cyberabad Police have registered a case against the management of Malla Reddy University in Medchal and the event manager of the Toxic pre-release event after four people were injured when a speaker stand collapsed during the programme on Saturday night. The mishap took place while actor Yash, the film's lead, was on stage addressing the gathering.

Police told PTI that four people, including a student, were injured after the sound box system collapsed at the private university venue. According to police, a group of young fans had climbed onto the sound box system stand to get a better view of the stage when it suddenly gave way, sending them to the ground.

All four injured people were taken to hospital, police said. “One student suffered a leg fracture while three others had minor injuries,” a senior police official said. Police said a case had been registered against the institution's management and the event manager, though details of the case were not specified.

The incident was captured on video by people at the venue, and the footage was later shared on social media. Yash briefly halted the event after learning about the incident and asked organisers to attend to the injured first. He stopped midway through his speech and said, “Are they okay? Please check.”

The actor again paused the event after noticing other fans trying to climb onto other speaker stands. The pre-release event was being held ahead of the release of Toxic, directed by Geetu Mohandas. The film follows a larger-than-life gangster story and explores themes of love, power, betrayal and redemption, while also focusing on the relationship between Raya and his son.

The film also features actors Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Tara Sutaria, Rukmini Vasanth and Huma Qureshi in key roles. Produced by KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations, Toxic is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on August 26.
