Meerut murder mystery deepens: Black magic, Bollywood dream, money transfer

Police said that after the former Navy officer was killed and his body chopped up, Muskan's lover took Saurabh's head and hands to his room and performed black magic.

Investigations into the murder of a former Merchant Navy officer in Meerut by his wife and her lover have revealed a chilling sequence of events after the killing, the woman's alleged Bollywood aspirations, and hefty financial transactions. Police said that after the former Navy officer was killed and his body chopped up, Muskan's lover, Sahil, took Saurabh's head and hands to his room and performed black magic.

Saurabh, who worked at a mall in London and came to Meerut in February, was murdered, and his body was chopped into several parts before being dumped into a drum filled with cement. Muskaan and Sahil have been arrested.

SUPERSTITION AND BLACK MAGIC ANGLE

However, investigations into the gruesome case have thrown up fresh revelations. Police suspect that Sahil practised black magic after eerie images, sketches of dragons and other strange symbols were found in his room. A cat was also seen in the room, and several beer bottles were also scattered around.

Police suspect that Sahil took Saurabh's severed head and hands to his room to perform some tantric ritual before returning them to Muskan's house. The duo then put the body parts in the cement drum.

Investigations have revealed that Sahil, who was addicted to drugs, believed in the supernatural and was a reserved individual who rarely spoke to others. Cops said Sahil spent most of the time in his house, which he shared with his old grandmother. Sahil's mother died long ago and his father lived in Noida.

In fact, Sahil's superstitious beliefs were allegedly exploited by Muskan. Muskan created fake Snapchat accounts and texted Sahil, pretending to be his deceased mother, and manipulated him to kill Saurabh.

MUSKAN'S BOLLYWOOD ASPIRATIONS

Meanwhile, Saurabh's brother, Bablu, claimed that the former Navy officer returned from London with a substantial amount of money. He alleged that Muskan had run away from home in pursuit of becoming a Bollywood actor several times and this had led to arguments between the couple.

A divorce case was also filed in 2021, but Saurabh's family urged him to reconsider.

Bablu further alleged that Muskan used Saurabh's money to purchase a property and an iPhone. He said that Saurabh had returned to India for the renewal of his passport. Bablu alleged that Muskan's parents were also involved in the conspiracy and her family was facing a financial crisis.

However, Muskan claimed that her father had been bearing their household expenses and said she and Saurabh had frequent arguments over financial disputes.

WHAT ARE POLICE PROBING

Senior police officer Ayush Vikram said the preliminary investigation has suggested that the primary motives behind the murder appear to be Muskan's love affair and financial issues.

Police are also verifying details regarding Saurabh's employment in London despite him being only a 12th-grade pass. Financial transactions are also being scrutinised, including Rs 6,00,000 that was transferred to Muskan's and her mother's accounts.

Two police teams have been formed to investigate the matter through all angles, and efforts are underway to file the chargesheet soon.
