- Toxic was earlier set for release on June 4, 2026
- CinemaCon feedback opened doors to stronger overseas distribution
- Yash said the film is fully shot and edited already
Actor Yash's upcoming film, Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, has been postponed for the second time, with the makers announcing the decision on Wednesday. The film was earlier scheduled to release on June 4, 2026, but a new release date has not been announced yet. What is the reason behind the decision, though?
The postponement comes after the film's presentation at CinemaCon 2026 in Las Vegas earlier this year. According to an official report shared by the team, the strong response from global distributors and industry stakeholders opened up opportunities for a wider international release, prompting the makers to revisit and realign their release strategy.
What does this mean for the film?
The team said the film has now been completed and that the current focus is on securing global distribution and building key international partnerships so that Toxic can reach audiences across markets at the intended scale. The film is written by Yash and Geetu Mohandas, and directed by Geetu Mohandas.
Yash puts potential speculations to end
In an official statement, Yash said the decision was taken to improve the film’s reach and viewing experience worldwide and to avoid speculation around the delay. He said, "There are films we make, and then there are films that remind us why we fell in love with cinema. Toxic has been one such journey. Presenting our film at CinemaCon and witnessing the overwhelming global response reaffirmed what we have always believed, that this film deserves to reach its fullest potential worldwide (sic)."
Yash further emphasised that the film is fully shot and edited, thereby, denying any possibility of a delay due to post-production work. The actor-producer also underlined that the film's release date would be planned for audiences beyond India. "While we will not be releasing on June 4 as announced earlier, we will be releasing at a later, globally aligned date. Toxic will come to theatres across the world soon (sic)," he said.
Toxic was one of the few Indian films presented at CinemaCon 2026, and Yash said he saw the moment as a larger opportunity. "As an actor and producer, I see this moment as an opportunity to do my part—for the Indian film industry and for all of us—by taking the time to ensure our film reaches the world with the impact it is meant to have (sic)," he said.
Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups stars Yash alongside Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth and Tara Sutaria. Shot in Kannada and English, the film will also release in dubbed versions in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam. Produced by KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations, the film will now arrive in theatres worldwide on a new date to be announced soon.
