Barcola arrived at PSG from Lyon in 2023 and enjoyed a hugely successful spell in Paris. During his time with the French giants, he helped the club win consecutive Champions League titles in 2024-25 and 2025-26, along with three Ligue 1 trophies and two French Cups.

The forward leaves behind an impressive record of 39 goals and 37 assists from 152 appearances in all competitions, despite still having two years left on his contract with PSG.

Should the move go through, Barcola will become the latest marquee signing in Liverpool's rebuilding project under new manager Andoni Iraola. The club have already strengthened their squad during the transfer window with Ronald Araujo, Jeremy Jacquet and Victor Munoz.

Liverpool's attack has undergone significant change following Mohamed Salah's departure. British record signing Alexander Isak, Cody Gakpo, Rio Ngumoha and Munoz are among the options available to Iraola, while Hugo Ekitike is facing an extended spell on the sidelines due to a long-term injury. Barcola's arrival would add another high-profile name to an attack that is entering a new era at Anfield.

Liverpool started their new Premier League season with a 2-2 draw against Newcastle United. The likes of Isak, Florian Wirtz and others are yet to make their mark for the side.
