  • He linked the start delay to Hrithik's commitments with his banner
  • The actor is expected to make his directorial debut with the franchise

Filmmaker Rakesh Roshan has dismissed reports claiming that his son Hrithik Roshan demanded a Rs 500 crore budget for Krrish 4, calling the speculation "all nonsense". He also denied rumours of a disagreement with producer Aditya Chopra over the film's cost, saying there are no issues around the project and that everything is progressing smoothly.

Reacting to reports that Hrithik had sought a massive budget for top-tier VFX and world-class action sequences, Rakesh told Mid-Day, "It's all nonsense that Hrithik has asked for a Rs 500 crore budget for top-tier VFX and world-class action for his directorial debut, while YRF wants to cap costs at Rs 350 crore. Making a good film catering to a wide audience takes time. Even I have taken time for each of my Krrish offerings."

Rakesh also addressed the delay in the project going on floors, saying Hrithik is currently occupied with commitments related to the production house he launched earlier this year.

"Krrish (Hrithik) is on another planet, and we are all waiting for his dates," he said, adding that there is no discrepancy with anyone.

Krrish 4 budget reports

Krrish 4 has been one of the most anticipated projects in Hindi cinema, with Hrithik Roshan set to make his directorial debut with the superhero franchise.

Earlier, according to Sacnilk, Chopra was keen to keep the project's cost at around Rs 350 crore to ensure commercial viability, while Hrithik envisioned the film on a much grander scale with a budget of nearly Rs 500 crore.

Krrish 4 is being developed in collaboration with Yash Raj Films. The development comes after Hrithik Roshan's last major outing, War 2, with the banner.

The Krrish franchise began with Koi... Mil Gaya, in which Hrithik played Rohit Mehra, a young man whose life changes after he befriends an alien named Jadoo. The extraordinary powers he receives are later inherited by his son, Krishna Mehra, who transforms into the superhero Krrish.

With the project temporarily put on a backburner, Krrish 4 is not likely to begin filming in 2026 as initially planned. The timeline has now shifted further, with new production dates yet to be determined.
