Prior to this, Gill had been dismissed for 96 against Punjab Kings in 2022. His knock of 90 on Monday took him past the 300-run mark for the season, lifting him to 7th place in the Orange Cap standings. He now has 305 runs from 8 innings at a strike rate of 153.26.
On the day, Gill’s opening partner Sai Sudharsan also impressed, scoring a fluent 52 off 36 balls. The duo put together a 114-run stand for the first wicket. Sudharsan’s consistent form saw him climb to the top of the Orange Cap list, with 417 runs from 8 innings at a strike rate of 152.18.
Gujarat Titans posted a strong total of 198 for 3 at Eden Gardens. After a slow start in the powerplay, it was Jos Buttler who provided late impetus, smashing an unbeaten 41 off just 23 balls.
The Eden Gardens pitch appeared slightly two-paced, with several deliveries gripping the surface—making life tricky for the pacers. However, KKR’s poor fielding performance allowed GT to breach the 190-run mark.
