Shroff, seated on the side facing the shooters, was seen moving towards the driver’s seat during the firing.

Jackie Shroff’s team also confirmed to India Today that his son was safe. “Tiger is okay,” the team said.

'STRICT ACTION AGAINST THOSE RESPONSIBLE'

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis called the Mumbai Police Commissioner to seek details of the firing. He directed police to expedite the investigation and take strict action against those responsible.

Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde condemned the attack, saying police would catch the attackers and “respond to them in their own language”.

“Our priority is to keep Mumbai and its people safe. No lapse will be tolerated,” he told reporters.

Congress MP Varsha Gaikwad questioned Mumbai’s law and order situation, citing the firing outside the homes of Salman Khan and Rohit Shetty and Congress leader Baba Siddique’s killing.

“If even prominent figures like politicians and actors are not safe here, what hope is there for the common man?” she asked.

LAWRENCE BISHNOI GANG CLAIMS RESPONSIBILITY

Gangsters Anil Pandit and Harman Sandhu claimed responsibility for the firing in a Facebook post issued in the name of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

They claimed they targeted Shroff for ignoring earlier warnings against working with Bollywood superstar Salman Khan.

“Anyone who does not listen to us will be next. Wait and watch,” they warned. The claim has not been independently verified.

Pandit, originally from Haryana and now in the US, is a close associate of Bishnoi and has previously claimed responsibility for several attacks. Sandhu is also based abroad.

BISHNOI GANG TARGETS BOLLYWOOD

Shroff is the latest Bollywood personality to have been the target of shootings over the years.

In February 2026, five rounds were fired outside the Juhu residence of filmmaker Rohit Shetty. The Lawrence Bishnoi gang claimed responsibility for the firing.

Comedian Kapil Sharma's restaurant, Kap's Caf, located in Canada's British Columbia province, was targeted in three separate shooting incidents between July and October last year.

In April 2024, two bike-borne men fired five rounds outside actor Salman Khan's Galaxy Apartments in Mumbai's Bandra area.

The Mumbai Police arrested many suspects linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. A trial against five accused is currently underway.
