Toxic advance booking: Yash film trails KGF 2, earns Rs 32 crore from 6 lakh tickets

Yash's Toxic has crossed Rs 30 crore in domestic advance bookings ahead of its August 26 release. Karnataka is setting the pace, making the last stretch of pre-sales vital to its opening-day showing.

Yash's Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups is entering the final two days before its theatrical release with a sizeable advance already in place. Although the film has crossed the Rs 30-crore mark in domestic advance bookings, it is still trailing the 2022 blockbuster KGF: Chapter 2, which had generated around Rs 60 crore in advance sales before its release. Karnataka is leading Toxic's pre-sales, with the Kannada 2D version driving demand.

As the August 26 release draws closer, attention is now turning to how much further the advance can climb. According to advance-booking data tracked by Sacnilk, Toxic has collected Rs 32.52 crore, including blocked seats, with more than 6 lakh tickets sold. Without blocked seats, the advance stands at Rs 23.91 crore.

With two days still to go before release, the film is expected to see further growth, although hitting the Rs 100-crore mark in pre-sales appears unlikely at the current pace. Trade, however, is keeping an eye on a possible late surge, particularly in Karnataka.

The film's current advance is also behind the pre-release pace of Yash's KGF: Chapter 2, which remains the bigger benchmark for the actor. Toxic, nevertheless, has built a hefty advance ahead of its opening, with Karnataka accounting for Rs 15.51 crore across languages. Maharashtra follows with Rs 2.99 crore, Delhi with Rs 2.09 crore, Uttar Pradesh with Rs 1.62 crore and West Bengal with Rs 1.60 crore. Sikkim has recorded the lowest advance at Rs 800.

Language-wise pre-sales break-up

In Kannada, Bengaluru is the biggest contributor at Rs 9.64 crore, followed by Mysuru at Rs 1.02 crore and Kalaburagi at Rs 59.78 lakh. For Hindi, NCR leads with Rs 1.75 crore, followed by Mumbai at Rs 1.23 crore and Pune at Rs 65.04 lakh.

Interestingly, the film is also attracting advance bookings for its Hindi 4DX shows.The Hindi 4DX version is also seeing bookings, with NCR recording Rs 9.5 lakh, Bengaluru Rs 4.64 lakh and Mumbai Rs 4.33 lakh.

Surprisingly, the Telugu version has collected Rs 9.16 lakh in Bengaluru and Rs 53.87 thousand in Mumbai. Chennai leads the Tamil market with Rs 23.73 lakh, followed by Coimbatore at Rs 7.32 lakh and Vellore at Rs 6.95 lakh. In Malayalam, Kochi has recorded Rs 7.19 lakh and Trivandrum Rs 1.66 lakh.

With Rs 32.52 crore already on the board including blocked seats, Toxic has a decent start. However, reaching Rs 100 crore in pre-sales over the next two days would require the film to add nearly Rs 67.5 crore more, making that target appear highly unlikely at the current pace.

Directed by Geetu Mohandas, Toxic stars Yash alongside Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Rukmini Vasanth, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria, Akshay Oberoi and Sudev Nair.

The gangster action drama has received an A certificate from the CBFC and will release in Kannada, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam. The English version has a separate international distribution arrangement with Lionsgate.
