After months of stable fuel rates, petrol and diesel prices across India have gone up again and commuters are set to feel the pinch immediately. State-run oil companies revised fuel prices on Friday, raising petrol and diesel rates by around Rs 3 per litre in several cities.

The latest petrol price hike affects all four metros along with states and cities such as Jaipur, Patna, Chandigarh, Jammu and Dehradun.

For many households already dealing with high daily expenses, the increase is likely to hit monthly travel and transport budgets hard.

Delhi now sees petrol being sold at Rs 97.77 per litre, up by Rs 3, while diesel has climbed to Rs 90.67. In Mumbai, petrol costs Rs 106.68 and diesel Rs 93.14 after a similar increase.

Kolkata continues to record the highest petrol price among the four metros. Petrol there now costs Rs 108.74 per litre, while diesel stands at Rs 95.13. In Chennai, petrol is priced at Rs 103.67 and diesel at Rs 95.25.

Outside the metros too, fuel prices have moved up sharply.

In Jaipur, petrol now costs Rs 107.96 per litre while diesel is at Rs 93.22. Patna has petrol priced at Rs 108.67 and diesel at Rs 94.65.

Chandigarh records petrol at Rs 97.27 per litre and diesel at Rs 85.25. In Gujarat, petrol is priced at Rs 97.45 and diesel at Rs 93.22.

Jammu City also saw a noticeable rise. Petrol now costs Rs 99.63 per litre, up from Rs 96.49 yesterday, an increase of Rs 3.14. Diesel rose by Rs 2.98 to reach Rs 88.31 per litre.

In Dehradun, petrol is being sold at Rs 96.26 per litre, while diesel costs Rs 91.38. Premium Speed Petrol has touched Rs 105 per litre.

The fresh revision comes after a long period without major changes in retail fuel rates. Rising global crude oil prices are being seen as one of the reasons behind the latest move.

With fuel prices India becoming a major talking point again, many consumers are expected to closely track daily petrol price today and diesel price today updates in the coming weeks.
