A man on an IndiGo Airlines flight from Mumbai to Kolkata was caught on camera slapping another passenger who was having a panic attack. The video went viral on social media, following which Indigo issued a statement condemning the incident.

In the video, the man was seen slapping the passenger unprovoked. The man having a panic attack was being helped by air hostesses when he was suddenly slapped by the accused. Another passenger was heard repeatedly questioning the accused passenger on why he slapped the man. To this, the accused answered, "I was having problem."

In its statement, IndiGo said that such unruly behaviour is completely unacceptable and proper action was taken against the accused.

"We are aware of an incident involving a physical altercation on board one of our flights. Such unruly behaviour is completely unacceptable and we strongly condemn any actions that compromise the safety and dignity of our passengers and crew," said Indigo.

The airlines said that the accused individual was identified as unruly and handed over to the security agencies upon arrival.

"Our crew acted in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures. The individual involved was identified as unruly and handed over to the security authorities upon arrival. All appropriate regulatory agencies have been duly informed, in line with protocol," the statement added.
