Actor Vineeth Sreenivasan’s upcoming film Oru Jaathi Jaathakam, which is scheduled to release on January 31, has hit a significant roadblock just before its release. The film, directed by M. Mohanan, has reportedly been banned in Gulf countries due to its references to the LGBTQ+ community.
According to reports, the movie faces a ban in all GCC countries, with Oman being the only exception. This setback comes just as the film prepares for its much-anticipated big-screen debut, after its initial release date was postponed from August 22, 2024.

Oru Jaathi Jaathakam marks the second collaboration between actor Vineeth Sreenivasan, director M. Mohanan, and co-lead Nikhila Vimal, following their successful partnership in Aravindante Athidhikal. The film, set in Northern Malabar, tells the story of Jayesh who encounters a series of life-changing challenges after meeting a woman skilled in palmistry. Jayesh finds himself spiralling into a dark phase of his life. The narrative then follows his journey of self-discovery and whether he can overcome his trials and ultimately succeed.
The film features an ensemble cast that includes Babu Antony, PP Kunhikrishnan, Mridul Nair, Vidhu Prathap, Sayanora Philip, Amal Thaha, Indu Thampi, and Kayadu Lohar in key roles, adding depth to the story’s compelling narrative.

Meanwhile, Vineeth Sreenivasan’s previous directorial film Varshangalkku Shesham, a period comedy-drama starring Pranav Mohanlal and Dhyan Sreenivasan, received positive reviews. The actor is also set to appear alongside Dileep in the action-thriller Bha. Bha. Ba., directed by Dhananjay Shankar.
