- Both teams have been knocked out of the tournament
- Both teams will play for their pride in the upcoming game
Bangladesh assistant coach Muhammad Salahudin wants his batters to put up a good show in their last match of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 against Pakistan on Thursday, February 27 at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi. Bangladesh have been already knocked out of the tournament, having lost their first two matches against India and New Zealand respectively.
Hence, their last game against Pakistan will not have any effect on the tournament whatsoever as both teams have been knocked out following their losses in the first two matches. Ahead of Bangladesh’s last fixture, Muhammad Salahudin was asked if Bangladesh’s good record at the Rawalpindi stadium would help them in the upcoming encounter as they won the Test series last year at the venue. The Bangladesh assistant coach dismissed any such advantage, saying that they will have to play well tomorrow and will need to bat well against Pakistan.

“Actually, I don't believe in history because we did not play well in our last matches. What we did before, that's not a concern to me. We have to play well tomorrow; that's the most important thing to us. We did not bat well also. That is the concerning thing about that. The first match actually, we did not bat well. The top order did not bat well. And yesterday also our middle order did not bat well. We need to fix it up as quickly as possible. Wicket is good. I feel that batsmen can do better tomorrow. That will be our main concern, that how we can bat better here. And I think our bowlers bowled really well last two matches. So hopefully, we'll do better tomorrow,” said Salahudin in the pre-match press conference.

Bangladesh were reduced to 35/5 against India before Towhid Hridoy (100 off 118) and Jaker Ali (68 off 114) helped them get to 228. However, it didn’t prove to be enough as India won the match by six wickets. In the second game against New Zealand, captain Najmul Hossain Shanto played a good knock of 77 (110) but the middle order failed to give any support to him.
As a result, Bangladesh could only score 236/9 in their allotted 50 overs, which again didn’t prove to be enough to beat New Zealand. Hence, they will have to make the most of the good batting conditions in the upcoming encounter and post a good total on the board to beat Pakistan and register their first win of the tournament.
