A 35-year-old woman was stabbed to death by a former colleague in Hyderabad on Saturday night, with police suspecting a relationship dispute behind the attack.

The woman, identified as Tahera Bhanu, was working at the store in Hyderabad’s Azampura when the accused, Mohd. Ibrahim, attacked her with a sharp knife. She was rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.

According to preliminary information, the accused told police that he and Tahera had been in a relationship for several years. He became resentful after she began distancing herself from him, which police suspect may have led to the attack.

Ibrahim, who is married and has two children, has been apprehended and is currently in police custody and was shifted to police station as a precautionary measure as further action is under way.

“The motive and circumstances of the incident are based on preliminary information and will be verified during the course of the investigation. Further details will be shared as more information becomes available,” the police said in a statement.
