Alpha box office Day 5: Alia Bhatt film crosses Rs 70 crore worldwide

Actors Alia Bhatt and Sharvari's Alpha continued its steady run at the box office on Tuesday (July 7), recording a jump in collections over Monday. The action thriller earned an estimated Rs 4.25 crore nett in India on Day 5, taking its worldwide gross past the Rs 70-crore mark.
According to trade website Sacnilk, Alpha collected Rs 4.25 crore nett on Day 5 across 7,173 shows. With this, the film's total India nett collection stands at Rs 42.10 crore, while its India gross has reached Rs 50.23 crore.
Overseas, the film earned Rs 1.50 crore on Tuesday, taking its total international gross to Rs 19.80 crore. Its worldwide gross collection now stands at Rs 70.03 crore.
Alpha opened with Rs 9.25 crore nett in India on Friday and registered a worldwide opening of Rs 16.10 crore. The film showed healthy growth over the weekend, collecting Rs 13.25 crore nett on Sunday after recording a 15.2 per cent jump over Saturday. By the end of its opening weekend, the Shiv Rawail directorial had earned an estimated Rs 34 crore nett in India and Rs 58.80 crore worldwide.
On Monday, the film collected an estimated Rs 3.85 crore nett across 6,997 shows before witnessing a slight increase in collections on Tuesday.

The film has received a mixed response from critics. In its review, India Today rated Alpha 2.5 stars, praising Alia Bhatt's performance as Sita while criticising the screenplay for its inconsistency.
A part of the review read, “That unevenness becomes Alpha’s biggest problem. The film keeps piling on twists, and while a few works, the constant barrage eventually becomes exhausting. Instead of building intrigue, the screenplay focusses more on building shock value.”
Directed by Shiv Rawail and written by Uday Chopra, Alpha released in theatres on July 3. The seventh installment in the YRF Spy Universe also stars Sharvari, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol and Dia Mirza in key roles.
