Actor Aditi Rao Hydari grabbed attention at the Cannes Film Festival 2026 after stepping out in a champagne silk tissue saree inspired by Chaarbagh, the Mughal-era garden layout symbolising paradise on earth. Sharing photographs from the French Riviera on Instagram, Aditi wrote, “Wearing a saree the traditional way. Revolutionary, I know.”

The actor’s latest Cannes appearance quickly became a talking point online, with fans praising the blend of traditional Indian craftsmanship and contemporary styling. Designed by Jade by Monica and Karishma, the ivory-and-gold saree featured intricate Mughal-inspired details while keeping the overall look elegant and understated.

What made Aditi Rao Hydari’s Cannes saree stand out?

Aditi’s custom saree was crafted in silky champagne tissue fabric and drew inspiration from Chaarbagh, the four-part garden design associated with Mughal architecture. The outfit incorporated a patchwork of four prints sourced from archival block-printing patterns linked to different craft traditions.

The saree also featured Kasab embroidery layered with metallic threads in a Mughal style, adding texture and depth to the ivory-and-gold palette. The detailed embroidery gave the ensemble a regal finish without overpowering the look.

Aditi kept the styling minimal by pairing the saree with a gold-toned necklace and skipping heavier accessories like earrings, bangles or bracelets.

How did Aditi style the look?

The actor wore her hair in a soft loose bun and opted for a mauve lip shade to add contrast to the muted tones of the saree. Her styling focused on keeping the attention on the craftsmanship and silhouette of the outfit.

Soon after the photographs surfaced online, fans flooded the comments section with reactions. While one user called the look “pure royal vibes”, another described her appearance as “beautiful”.

What did Aditi wear before the saree look?

Before unveiling her Chaarbagh-inspired ensemble, Aditi Rao Hydari had shared another Cannes 2026 appearance featuring a black-and-white halter-neck gown. The outfit included a front cut-out, tie-up back, cinched waistline and flowing skirt.

She completed that monochrome look with gold dangling earrings and rings, maintaining the sharp yet minimal styling approach seen throughout her Cannes appearances this year.
