A bike rider was killed after an iron rod fell from a moving pickup van and pierced his body in Thrissur. The deceased was identified as Sherin John, a native of Kuttanellur.

The accident took place around 10:30 am yesterday near HiLITE Mall in Kuttanellur. The iron rods being transported in the pickup van reportedly slipped out of the vehicle and struck Sherin, who was riding his motorcycle behind the van.

Local residents rushed him to a nearby hospital, but doctors could not save him.

Police have taken the pickup van into custody as part of the investigation.
