Seven of family killed in massive building fire in Mumbai's Chembur

The blaze started on the ground floor and spread to the upper residential area of the two-storey building, killing seven in Mumbai's Chembur.

Seven people from the same family, including a seven-year-old girl, were killed after a fire broke out in a double-storey shop-cum-residential structure in Mumbai's Chembur on Sunday morning.

The 'level one' fire occurred at 5.20 am. The fire started on the ground floor of the building, which was used as a shop, while the upper floor served as a residence. The electric wiring and installations in the shop caught fire and spread to the upper floor, according to officials.

The victims include Paris Gupta (7), Manju Prem Gupta (30), Anita Gupta (39), Prem Gupta (30), and Narendra Gupta (10). Details of two other victims are yet to be shared by officials.
