Despite a modest start at the box office, Bobby Deol and Anurag Kashyap's Bandar registered a strong jump in collections on its second day. The film, which has drawn praise from critics and audiences for what many are calling Bobby Deol's career-best performance, recorded nearly 90 per cent growth after its opening day.

According to the tracking website Sacnilk, Bandar collected Rs 95 lakh on Day 2 across 1,257 shows, compared with Rs 50 lakh on Day 1. The film's total India nett collection now stands at Rs 1.45 crore, while its gross domestic earnings have reached Rs 1.75 crore. Ahead of the release, the makers had made it clear that they were not expecting blockbuster opening weekend numbers and were instead hoping the film would find its audience gradually through positive word of mouth rather than a wide multiplex opening.

Directed by Anurag Kashyap, Bandar is currently facing stiff competition at the box office from several releases, including Varun Dhawan, Mrunal Thakur and Pooja Hegde's Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai and Ram Charan's Peddi.

About Bandar

Bandar centres on Samar, played by Bobby Deol, a once-successful singer and actor whose life takes a shocking turn after he is accused of sexual assault by a woman named Gayatri, portrayed by Sapna Pabbi. As the allegations make headlines, Samar is drawn into a relentless cycle of court hearings, investigations and media trials.

While he insists that he is innocent and claims that Gayatri is an obsessive stalker, the film examines his fight against a system that appears deeply flawed and riddled with corruption.

Alongside Bobby Deol, the film features Sanya Malhotra, Saba Azad, Raj B Shetty, Jitendra Joshi, Riddhi Sen, Indrajith Sukumaran and Nagesh Bhonsle in key roles.
