Mohammad Yousuf, on Sunday (September 29), stepped down as the selector of the Pakistan men’s team due to ‘personal reasons’. Yousuf was a part of the selection panel that picked the squad for the Men’s T20 World Cup where Pakistan failed to go beyond the group stage. Back in July, he, along with Asad Shafiq, was retained in the revamped panel.

Shan Masood’s Pakistan recently slumped to a 2-0 defeat to Najmul Hossain Shanto’s Bangladesh, after which Yousuf decided to step down. Yousuf also picked the squad for the opening Test against England, which is scheduled to start on Monday, October 7.

“I announce my resignation as a selector for the Pakistan cricket team for 'personal reasons'. Serving this incredible team has been a profound privilege, and I am proud to have contributed to the growth and success of Pakistan Cricket. I have immense faith in the talent and spirit of our players, and Wish our team all the best as they continue to strive for greatness,” Yousuf wrote in a post on X.
